Beijing Normal University Law Delegation Participates in the 42nd Cambridge International Symposium on Economic Crime and Hosts Side Event on Cross-Border Recovery of Suspicious Assets in Corruption Cases


From August 31 to September 7, 2025, the 42nd Cambridge International Symposium on Economic Crime, hosted by the Centre for Geopolitics at the University of Cambridge and co-organized by Beijing Normal University’s Faculty of Law, was successfully held at Jesus College, University of Cambridge. The symposium aimed to enhance understanding of practical challenges in combating economically motivated crimes and promote international cooperation. Over 1,000 participants, including legal scholars, practitioners, and representatives from organizations such as the International Documentation and Research Centre on Organized and Economic Crime (CIDOEC), the UK National Economic Crime Centre (NECC), and Cambridge’s Centre for Geopolitics, attended the event. Founded by Professor Barry Rider (Honorary Fellow of Jesus College, Cambridge) and co-chaired by Sir Ivan Lawrence (Professor of Law at BPP University and the University of Buckingham), the symposium featured a side event hosted by Beijing Normal University’s delegation titled “International Cooperation in Recovering Suspicious Assets in Corruption Cases: A Chinese Perspective”, which highlighted China’s role in global anti-corruption asset recovery frameworks and facilitated dialogue on cross-border legal mechanisms.
