Institute of Crime and Correction, Beijing Normal University

 

 

The Institute of Crime and Corrections (ICC) of Beijing Normal University is a substantive teaching and research institution affiliated to the Institute of Criminal Law Science of Beijing Normal University.

Our teachers are responsible for teaching doctoral and master's related courses. Among them, the main course undertaken by all teachers in our institute is a criminal execution law course for master's students, using "Criminal Execution Law" edited by Wu Zongxian as a teaching material. In addition, it also undertakes courses such as research on cutting-edge issues in basic criminal law theory and legal research methods for doctoral students; undertakes courses such as special research in criminal psychology, criminology, Western criminology, legal negotiation skills, China law and culture, general theory of criminal law, chapters of criminal law, introduction to legal empirical research methods, and general theory of crime for master's students. At the same time, our teachers guide doctoral and master students in criminal execution law (prison science, community correction, etc.) and criminology to cultivate high-level talents for the country.

Our teachers are engaged in research in criminology, criminal law enforcement, criminal law, legal psychology, etc., and have published a variety of influential academic works, including Professor Wu Zongxian's "History of Western Criminology","Western Criminology","Introduction to Prison Science","Contemporary Western Prison Science","Comparative Research on Community Corrections","General Introduction to Criminal Psychology","Sections on Criminal Psychology", etc.; Associate Professor Li Shanhe's "Principles of Crime","Principles of Criminal Responsibility of Company and Enterprise Leaders", etc.; Associate Professor Lao Jiaqi's "Recidivism System: Between Norms and Facts", etc. Our teachers have also undertaken a series of research topics at the national and provincial levels, covering penal reform, community correction systems and the formulation of community correction laws, prison legal systems, criminal responsibilities of company and business leaders, and empirical research on the effects of criminal law on criminal convictions.

Our research in community corrections, prison science, criminology, criminal psychology, etc. has had an important impact. Relevant works were selected into the "National Library of Philosophy and Social Sciences Achievements" and received multiple provincial and ministerial awards; teachers of the institute serve as vice presidents and other positions in several national academic groups in the fields of criminology, juvenile delinquency and other fields.
