The Institute of International Criminal Law is one of the more prominent research institutions in the Academy of Criminal Law of Beijing Normal University, and one of the most eye-catching research teams in my country's international criminal law community:

1. Strong team strength

The International Institute of Criminal Law has a strong team. So far, it has formed a full-time research team of 11 people including 5 professors, with Professor Huang Feng as the director and Professor Wang Xiumei and Professor Zhang Lei as deputy directors. In September 2016, with the support of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, the G20 Anti-Corruption, Escape, Recovery and Recovery Research Center was established with the team of the International Institute of Criminal Law as the main body. The center is the first institution to conduct anti-corruption, Escape, Recovery and Recovery research for G20 member states., aiming to promote anti-corruption, escape, and recovery research and cooperation among G20 member states, and promote the construction of a new international anti-corruption order. After the establishment of the center, the international characteristics and international visibility of the Institute of International Criminal Law have been further enhanced. The two cooperate with each other to jointly promote the leap-forward development of the discipline of international criminal law at Beijing Normal University.

2. Rich scientific research results

The Institute of International Criminal Law takes the research of international criminal law as its own responsibility and has achieved fruitful scientific research results. It has published more than 30 books such as "International Criminal Law"; published more than 300 papers in journals such as "China Law" and "Xinhua Digest", and published more than 30 papers in overseas journals; undertook more than 30 scientific research projects such as major projects of the National Social Science Fund and major projects of the Ministry of Education; and submitted more than 20 research reports to the National People's Congress and the Supreme Judicial Organs.

3. Adhere to practice orientation

The Institute of International Criminal Law has always adhered to a practice-oriented approach and closely integrated theory and practice. Professor Huang Feng, the director, once served as a director-level inspector of the Judicial Assistance and Foreign Affairs Department of the Ministry of Justice. He has been engaged in the research and practice of international criminal judicial assistance for many years and has participated in the drafting and negotiation of more than 20 international treaties in my country. Professor Wang Xiumei, deputy director, is now serving as deputy chief judge of the Second Criminal Division of the Supreme People's Court, and has served as deputy chief prosecutor of Fangshan District and Procuratorate of Beijing City. In terms of talent training, the Institute of International Criminal Law has always paid attention to the improvement of students 'practical abilities and recommends students to practical internships, which not only broadens research horizons, but also enhances overall quality.

4. Distinctive international characteristics

International criminal law is an export-oriented discipline, and international ability is one of the basic qualities necessary for researchers. The full-time researchers all have a doctorate in law from well-known overseas universities or rich overseas study experience, and are proficient in at least one foreign language. Many members hold important positions in international criminal organizations. For example, Professor Wang Xiumei serves as Vice Chairman of the International Association of Criminal Law and Secretary-General of the China Branch, and Professor Huang Feng serves as Vice Chairman of the China Branch of the International Association of Criminal Law, playing an active organizing and coordinating role in the field of international criminal law research in my country.
