Institute of Criminal Procedure Law

The Institute of Criminal Procedure Law was established in 2005. It is one of the nine permanent research institutes of the Institute of Criminal Legal Sciences. It currently has 6 full-time team members, including 3 professors and 3 associate professors.

As a specialized research and teaching institution in the direction of criminal procedure, the Institute of Criminal Procedure Law relies on the overall advantages of the criminal law discipline group of the Academy of Criminal Justice, adheres to the major practical needs and cutting-edge theoretical development in the field of criminal justice as the center, and conducts multidisciplinary cross-research. A series of influential academic achievements have been achieved in basic theory of criminal procedure law, juvenile justice, Chinese and foreign judicial systems, and judicial control of death penalty.

In terms of scientific research, in addition to rich academic works, members of the institute have undertaken a number of key projects at the national, provincial and ministerial levels such as "Empirical Research on Assessment Indicators of Criminal Justice Business","Protection of Minors and Crime Prevention", and "Special Rules for Juvenile Criminal Cases"; The decision-making consultation reports and suggestions submitted to the central government have received important instructions from party and state leaders on many occasions, making important contributions to enhancing the influence of the criminal law discipline of Beijing Normal University and promoting the progress of criminal rule of law.

In terms of teaching, the undergraduate course "Criminal Procedure Law" undertaken by the institute has successively won high-quality courses at the school level and municipal level of Beijing Normal University; the basic postgraduate textbook "Criminal Procedure Law" edited by Professor Song Yinghui has won the title of a high-quality teaching material for higher education in Beijing City; courses such as "Foreign Criminal Procedure Law" and "Legal Methodology" have won high-quality postgraduate courses at the school level of Beijing Normal University.

In terms of social services, the institute actively provides suggestions and suggestions for the country's legislative and judicial construction. In addition to participating in previous revisions of criminal procedure laws, team members also were entrusted by the legislative body to draft the "Law on the Protection of Minors" and the "Prevention of Minors" Expert recommendations on the Law on the Prevention of Minors ", and were invited to submit the" Criminal Procedure Rules of the People's Procuratorate "to the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Supreme People's Court. Suggestions on the application of Criminal Procedure Law of People's Republic of China and other judicial interpretations.
